The practice of Pilates has directly contributed to Cori’s health and happiness, and has kept her free of the chronic back pain that resulted from a fracture to her spine during a snowboarding accident. In addition to maintaining the health of her spine, Pilates has helped to enhance the hobbies that Cori enjoys outside of the studio such as surfing, hiking and cycling.
It is Cori’s goal to provide each and every client with the sense of renewed energy, grace and total wellness that she has discovered in Pilates. With her comprehensive training through Body Arts and Science International, Cori appreciates every opportunity to share what she has learned with her clients. She looks forward to continuing her education and growth within the discipline through the study of Pilates-based rehabilitation methods.

She has enjoyed working with a wide variety of populations, including athletes, elderly and those who exercise just to feel good. She enjoys blending Pilates with her other interests of running, walking, swimming and many other outdoor pursuits.
Recently, Pilates has helped enhance her training for full- and half-marathons. “I look forward to seeing how Pilates enhances other aspects of my life.”
Jane specializes in instructing clients with ailments such as scoliosis, osteoporosis, MS, Parkinson’s Disease, herniated discs, joint replacements, etc. to lessen pain, maintain or regain range of motion and balance and become healthier overall.
After a successful career in graphic design, Jane began teaching yoga part-time after experiencing it about 14 years ago. Once she began a Pilates program, she became dedicated to the method, being certified in mat Pilates by PhysicalMind Institute in 2002 and certified on the apparatus by BASI in 2004. “It helped me learn the proper way to move and work out my own body. I believe everyone can benefit from Pilates and I encourage everyone I meet to try it.”

Around 1914, Joseph Pilates was a performer and a boxer living in England and, at the outbreak of WWI, was placed under forced internment along with other German nationals in Lancaster, England. There he taught fellow camp members the concepts and exercises developed over 20 years of self-study and apprenticeship in yoga, Zen, and ancient Greek and Roman physical regimens. It was at this time that he began devising the system of original exercises known today as “matwork”, or exercises done on the floor. He called this regimen “Contrology.” A few years later, he was transferred to another camp, where he became a nurse/caretaker to the many internees struck with wartime disease and physical injury. Here, he began devising equipment to rehabilitate his “patients,” taking springs from the beds and rigging them to create spring resistance and “movement” for the bedridden.
In a way, Pilates equipment today is not much different than that of yesteryear. Spring tension, straps to hold feet or hands, supports for back, neck and shoulder are as important now as they were then. Because of the remarkable nature of the equipment to both challenge and support the body as it learns to move more efficiently, the inimitably designed pieces truly act as a complement to the challenging “matwork” exercises.
